Our Origin Storyβ¦
Long ago in a distant landβ¦
β¦hehe okay, not that intense.
Pixel Sistas actually started during a simple hangout. Tati and I were talking about the mental health podcast I had already created, and somewhere in that conversation, the idea sparkedβwhat if we started a podcast together?
At first, we had no clue what weβd even talk about.
After multiple conversations (and a few passionate debates trying to pick a niche), we realized something importantβwe didnβt need to box ourselves in.
We decided to talk about what we love: gaming, cosplay, anime, the rise of the fashion side of the industry, movies, and everything in between. If itβs part of the culture, weβre talking about it. Period.
But Pixel Sistas became more than just conversations.
One of the biggest reasons we created Pixel Sistas: Afro Gaming Podcast was because we saw a gapβand honestly, a problem. Talented cosplayers, streamers, artists, and creatives werenβt getting the recognition or support they deserved. We saw people being judged for not having the budget for high-end cosplay or being able to make one even though they were creating magic with what they had.
And we saw the darker side tooβthe trolls, the bullying, and an industry we loved slowly shifting into something that didnβt feel as welcoming anymore.
So we decided to do something about it.
Pixel Sistas is here to celebrate the brilliance of Blerd gaming culture and highlight what it really means to be a creator in spaces where you donβt always feel seen or supported. We created this platform as a safe spaceβfor new gamers, rising creators, and anyone who wants to make an impact in the community.
Our goal?
To make you feel like you just pulled up to a kickback with your peopleβwhere real conversations happen, where creators are uplifted, and where we talk about how to make this community better for everyone.
Because at the end of the dayβ¦
Weβre real people.
Weβre real gamers.
And weβre passionate about what makes us BLERDS. π

BackStory
Meet Ariel, a true Southern soul born and raised in South Carolina, whose love for video games has been a lifelong journey. At the age of 10, her father gifted her a Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo, laying the foundation for her gaming journey. With her love of both Nintendo and Sonic, Ariel has grown alongside them, witnessing the evolution of gaming from the early days of Xbox and Dreamcast to the cutting-edge PlayStation 5. Her gaming adventures extend beyond her personal experiences β she's observed the next generation being guided by the wisdom of her own. Beyond the digital realm, she embraces the art of cosplay in her leisure time, transforming into her favorite characters; when she's not immersed in gaming or cosplay, you'll find her binge-watching her favorite anime classics such as Fullmetal Alchemist, Rurouni Kenshin, Trigun, Blue Exorcist, Soul Eater, Rise of the Shield Hero, and many more. She hopes this podcast builds a community and safe space for gamers!

BackStory
Meet Tati
From a loving passion for video games, art, cosplay, and all things cute. I got into gaming at the ripe age of 9 playing my older cousinβs Dreamcast. It wasn't until I was 11 on Christmas that I got my Nintendo Gamecube and was given Sonic Adventure 2 Battle & Super Smash Bros Melee, I fell in love with the fast-paced action and story-telling of Sonic Adventure 2 the game that made me a Sonic fan. Smash Brothers not only introduced me to the world of fighting games but the playful world of Nintendo which also connected me to my other favorite franchise Kirby. As I got older, I got into more traditional feminine interests I often struggled with navigating the gaming fandom landscape, especially as a black woman. My goal for the podcast is to provide a space for people who feel that they donβt have a space to share their passions and interests. Iβm super excited to be a part of the podcast to share my love of video games, anime, and cosplay with you
